If you configure an IMAP account on your iPhone or iPad, you can send and receive your email using IMAP setting instead of ActiveSync. With IMAP, folders and emails are kept in sync between your iPhone or iPad and the mail server.

1. Create your IMAP account

Go to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendar. Click Add Account...

    • Select Other and enter the following information:
      - Name: your name here
      - Address: your full email address (e.g. jsmith@mycompany.com)
      - Password: enter the password you use when logging to your account online (this is case sensitive field)
      - Description: enter a brief description of the account so you can easily recognize it (e.g., Work Email)

  • Click Save

2. Complete the details of your account

    • Make sure IMAP (as opposed to POP) is highlighted on top of the screen
    • Enter the following information in the Incoming Mail Server:
      - Host Name: imap.odmailbox.com
      - User Name: your full email address (e.g. jsmith@mycompany.com)
      - Password: password you use when logging to your account online (this is case sensitive field)
    • Enter the following information in the Outgoing Mail Server:
      - Host Name: mail.odmailbox.com
      - User Name: your full email address (e.g. jsmith@mycompany.com)
      - Password: password you use when logging to your account online (this is case sensitive field)
    • Click Save
    • iPhone will try to verify IMAP account information, which may take a minute. You may get an error: Cannot Connect Using SSL. Do you want to try setting up account without SSL? If you do, simply click YES and continue.
  • iPhone will continue to verify IMAP account information. Please be patient while verification takes place. It may take a minute or two.

3. Confirm your account settings

When the account information is verified, you will be back in the main Mail, Contacts, Calendar screen:

    • Tap the name of your newly created IMAP account.
    • Confirm that the IMAP Account Information that you entered is correct.
    • Confirm that the Incoming Mail Server Information that you entered is correct.
    • Scroll down and your Outgoing Mail Server SMTP should say mail.odmailbox.com.
    • Tap the little arrow next to it. Primary server should say mail.odmailbox.com - On.

4. Download your folders and emails

    • Exit Settings by clicking Home button, and go to your Mail.
    • Your new account should be visible there. Tap it to enter. iPhone will check for new messages and pull all your online mail folders

5. Adjust Mailbox Behaviors for draft, deleted, and sent messages

    • Go to Settings and then select Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
    • Select your IMAP account under Accounts, tap your account name under IMAP, and select Advanced on the bottom.
  • In Mailbox Behaviors under Advanced do the following:
    • Tap Drafts Mailbox.Make sure that Drafts under On My iPhone or On My iPad is selected.
    • Tap Sent Mailbox. Make sure that Sent under On My iPhone or On My iPad is selected. Do not select either Sent Messages or Sent Items. If you select Sent Message, a new folder called Sent Messages will be created on the server and sent emails will be put there in addition to the Sent Items folder. If you select Sent Items, you may have two copies of all email you send from your iPhone or iPad.
    • Tap Deleted Mailbox. Select Deleted Items under On the Server.

You can go to the main screen and tap the Mail icon in your iPhone or iPad to start sending and receiving email using your new IMAP account.
