You can receive new email in your client within seconds of it reaching the mail server. You no longer have to wait for the Send/Receive to begin. The days of pulling in your email are over. However, if you want your emails available locally for off-line access, you should make sure that you have defined Offline or Send/Receive settings in your email client to download the entire message including attachments.
