To set up email as an IMAP Email Account on Mac Mail, just follow the easy steps below.

1. Under Mail, Preferences, Account, click the "+" sign to create your account.

  • Enter your full "Email Address" in lower case letters and "Password" (case sensitive).
  • Click "Continue" when done.

2. Enter the Incoming Mail Server Information as below:

  • For your IMAP account, the incoming mail server is "imap.odmailbox.com".
  • Enter your full email address in lower case letters as the "User Name" and then your "Password" (case sensitive).
  • Click "Continue" when done.

 3. Enter the Outgoing Mail Server Information as below:

  • Enter a descriptor in the Description field.
  • Enter "mail.odmailbox.com" as the outgoing mail server and check "Use only this server".
  • Check "Use Authentication" and enter your full email address (in lower case letters) as the "User Name" and then your "Password" (case sensitive).
  • Click "Continue" to move to the next steps.

Important: If Mac Mail is trying to find the outgoing server for more than 30 seconds, simply click "Cancel" and then "Continue" again. You will then be at Step 4.

4. Review your account information.

  • Review your settings as described in Step 5 and Step 6.
  • Check "Take account online" and click "Create".

5. Review your "Account Information" to make sure that your entries are as shown below.

You should also double-check the port numbers in your configuration.

  • If Incoming has SSL turned ON, the port should be 993
  • If incoming has SSL turned OFF, the port should be 143
  • You can do this under the Advanced tab.
  • If outgoing has SSL turned ON, the port should be 465
  • If outgoing has SSL turned OFF, we recommend port 587 (25 is often blocked by ISPs).
  • You can do this under Outgoing Mail Server, Edit Server List and select the OfficeDesktop server.

These port settings are extremely important and should be verified. Mac Mail sometime selects ports in a seemingly random way without allowing users to specify them during account setup.

If you’re having trouble with SSL from your computer, you might want to change it to uncheck SSL and enter 143 as the Port Number. Certain Mac Mail clients have trouble with SSL email that is difficult to troubleshoot.

6. As a final step, close your Mac Mail application and open it again to allow your new account settings to take effect.
